SR-splicing factors in Eukaryotes
BACK to 'Hemiascomycetous Yeast Spliceosomal Introns'
The SR protein family : 8 members in mammals
- Involved in constitutive (basic) and regulated (alternative) pre-mRNA splicing
- Evolutionary conserved in metozoan organisms
- One or two RNA binding domains (RDAEDA - SWQDLKD) at the N-term
- RS (arginin / serine-rich) domain et the C-term
Mediate interactions between spliceosomal components, and facilitate proper assembly of a catalytic spliceosome onto 5' splice sites.
