Yeast - Ribosomal RNAs

Last update: 06/04/97
All nuclear encoded ribosomal RNAs of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae are clustered in one region on chromosome XII. Only two of the 100-200 repeats of the rDNA cluster have been sequenced. On the right side of the rDNA cluster are several copies of a 3.6 kb repeat that include the ASP3 gene and a 5S rDNA gene. The precise number of copies of this 3.6 kb repeat in the genome is not known.
